The Mozambican government has assured tourists planning to visit during the festive season that borders and tourist sites are fully operational and safe, despite the post-election protests. Tourism Minister Eldevina Materula stressed that the protests are concentrated in urban areas, while popular destinations such as parks, beaches and reserves remain unaffected.
Airports and land crossings are operating, with the government encouraging the use of alternative border crossings to ease congestion at Ressano Garcia. The government is working with the tourism sector to ensure the safety of visitors and provide accurate information, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining the vitality of the sector.
Meanwhile, presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane has called for continued protests against the disputed election results, citing irregularities in the October 9 election, which officially declared Daniel Chapo the winner with 70.67% of the vote.

Addressing the nation, Nyusi invited all four presidential candidates to a meeting to find a collective solution, emphasizing the need for peace and mutual understanding to restore stability. “Our people need us. All problems can be solved through consensus,” he urged, while condemning the ongoing unrest as an attack on the state’s sovereignty and integrity.
